ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics

Bioplatforms Australia through the Commonwealth Government NCRIS programme is a key partner in the Centre of Excellence in Nanoscale BioPhotonics.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP) is a highly innovative research program that merges advanced capabilities in nanoscience, photonics and biomolecular science in order to explore and measure molecular processes occurring within living systems.

The CNBP aims to extend the boundaries of knowledge in nanoscale photonics and in the science of surfaces to drive new approaches to sensing at the nanoscale that will power new ways of understanding cellular processes within the human body. This innovative convergence of optical physics and nanoscience offers potential for new ways of measuring how cells respond to environmental conditions and clinical treatment.

The seven year research program will initially focus on the development of embryos, immune signals such as touch and pain, and cardiovascular health. New abilities to detect change and monitor biological processes within the body will advance diagnostics and healthcare outcomes.

This collaborative program brings together leading researchers from the University of Adelaide, Macquarie University and RMIT University with key international, national and industry partners.
