Dr Sue Meek specialises in working at the interface of academe, industry, government and non-government entities to increase awareness and understanding of the economic and social implications of science and technology and to facilitate the conduct, application and commercialisation of research and development.

As Principal of Sue Meek and Associates she aims to apply over 30 years of accumulated experience in science communication, advocacy and policy development, and expertise in research administration, commercialisation and regulation to the benefit of institutions, organisations and the community.

Sue’s prior appointments include being Chief Executive of the Australian Academy of Science and Australia’s inaugural Gene Technology Regulator, as well as various senior State Government positions with responsibilities for the development of technology-based industries and reseach capabilities. As an industry consultant she has been principally involved in conducting technology assessments and the establishment of biologically-based business ventures.

Dr Meek is Officer of the Order of Australia, a Fellow of the Academy of Technology and Engineering and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and an Honorary Professor at the Australian National University. She is a member of the ANU’s Centre for Personalised Immunology Advisory Board and a Trustee of the Washington DC based International Life Sciences Institute Research Foundation.
