Bioplatforms Australia congratulates Professor Peter Hoffmann from the University of South Australia on receiving the 2025 Australian Council of Graduate Research (ACGR) Award for Excellence in Industry Engagement.
Professor Hoffmann, a long-standing collaborator of Bioplatforms, is Director of the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics facility at the University of South Australia and holds the Lloyd Sansom Chair in Biomaterials Engineering and Nanomedicine. He is internationally recognised for his work in the commercialisation of patented biomarkers for the early detection of ovarian and gastric cancers.
As a Bioplatforms node leader, Professor Hoffmann plays a key role in supporting national research initiatives through advanced proteomics capabilities. His team contributes to a wide range of collaborative projects by providing high-quality mass spectrometry services and expertise.
The ACGR recognised Professor Hoffmann for his pioneering leadership in collaborative PhD programs with major industry partners, including CSL Limited and Coopers Brewery, supporting research translation in pharmaceuticals and industrial biotechnology.
Passionate about bridging the gap between academia and industry, Professor Hoffmann continues to advocate for stronger commercialisation pathways in Australia’s research ecosystem.
